Introduction

Hi, my name is Kayla Albrecht and I am a senior at High Point Regional High School in Sussex, New Jersey.  I am also a Girl Scout who is currently working on her Gold Award project.  When I first started to think of project ideas, I thought of ways I could include my own interests.  With my passion for inspiring others and determination of becoming a teacher one day, I knew that I wanted to involve one of the local elementary schools in my project.  When I visited the school to discuss possible projects with the principle, I noticed that the Special Education classrooms needed more recognition and organization.  So, I narrowed my idea to building toy boxes for Special Education classrooms.  With the guidance from my project advisor, who is an engineering teacher at my school, along with the help of fellow classmates, I plan on achieving my goal of gaining awareness and promoting a safe school environment for the special needs community.
